NEGMC January Meeting and After Christmas Party

Our after Christmas party will be held on Sunday, January 15th, beginning at 2:00 PM at the Sugar Hill Community Center located at 1166 Church St, Sugar Hill, GA, 30518. The club will provide meat and fixings, drinks, plates, plastic utensils, etc.  Each member is asked to bring a side or dessert.  The Sugar Hill Community Center has a full kitchen with an oven, microwave, refrigerator and several plugs for crockpots.

We will eat first, then have our January meeting and officer installation after which will be our highly anticipated white elephant gift exchange.

If you want to participate in the gift exchange bring a wrapped (without a to/from tag) gift with a value of no more than $15.00. The gift can be either a “real” gift or a “gag” gift. If both members of a couple want to participate, bring a gift from both.  If you are bringing children, and they are welcome, please bring a gift for them. We will have a separate gift exchange for the children so they will not potentially receive something inappropriate for a child.

Because we need to know how much meat to purchase and prepare, we do need to know how many people will be attending.  Please RSVP back to me via email ( jrhayslip@yahoo.com ) by 12/31 to let me know if you are coming and how many will be in your party.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

NEGMC November Club Meeting – November 12, 2016

NE Georgia Mustang Club Monthly Meeting – November

Our next meeting will be on Saturday November 12th at 2PM at Los Vaqueros Mexican; 17 Monroe Hwy; Winder, GA  30680.

This meeting is very important, nominations/volunteers for officers for the two year terms starting 1/1/2017 are due by this meeting.  To refresh, our bylaws state that the VP will step up to the President position for the next term and the VP, Secretary, and Treasurer positions are up for election every two years.  There is some lack of clarity on the VP stepping up for 2017, since our elected VP resigned earlier this year and Lou Manglass stepped up and assumed the position.  If he is willing to step up as President for the next term, and there are no objections that we can’t work through, then we can follow the bylaws, if not then the President position will need to be elected also.  I am going to copy and past the portions of the bylaws that apply to officer elections and also officer responsibilities below.  Please RSVP via email and let me ( Rick Hayslip ) know who will be attending by 10/31 so that we can give the restaurant a headcount for planning purposes.  Also, if you are interested in running for any of the positions, please let me know before the meeting although you can volunteer or be nominated at the meeting.  Remember this is your club, and we do need members participating in running the club and setting the direction of the club.  Please step up if you are able.

NEGMC Toys for Tots Yearly Shopping Trip and December Club Meeting – December 3, 2016

Mark your calendars!!

We will do this year’s Toys for Tots purchase and drop off at Jacky Jones Ford on Saturday December 3rd.  We will hold our meeting at Jacky Jones after the drop off, then cruise over to Wild Hawg BBQ in Clarkesville for a late lunch.

The day’s schedule is:

  •   9:00 AM – Leave Oakwood QuikTrip – Arrive before 9:00 AM to met other NEGMC members at the QuickTrip located on the NE corner of I-985 and GA 53 and we will caravan to the WalMart in Cleveland.
  • 10:00 AM – Arrive Cleveland WalMart – If you would rather meet at the WalMart we will see you there at around 10:00 AM depending on the traffic along US-129N.
  • 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM or until the money runs out – Shop for toys to be included in the Toys for Tots display at Jacky Jones Ford
  • 11:30 AM – Dropoff toys at Jacky Jones Ford in Cleveland
  • 12:15 PM – Hold December Club meeting at Jacky Jones Ford
  •  1:00 PM – Depart for lunch at the Wild Hawg BBQ located in Clarksville
  •  1:30 PM – Arrive at Wild Hawg BBQ, enjoy a great lunch
Let me know via email at Rick Hayslip <jrhayslip@yahoo.com> if you will be joining us at the QuikTrip in Oakwood, or if you will be joining us at the Walmart in Cleveland so we know how many to expect.
The December meeting also was when our elections for our club officers for 2017/2018 was supposed to be held.  After nominations which were due by our November meeting, we had one nomination/volunteer for each position so elections won’t be necessary.
Our 2017/2018 officers will be:
  • President: Lou Manglass (stepping up from the VP role he stepped into earlier this year)
  • Vice President:  Scott Mossbrooks
  • Secretary:  Karen Manglass
  • Treasurer:  Cher Hayslip
Congratulations and thanks for stepping up everyone, I look forward to working with you all during the transition and on down the road as we keep the club moving forward.

July NEGMC Meeting & Club Cruise

Your NEGMC will hold a combination North Georgia mountain cruise and club meeting on July 23rd. The cruise will stop in Hiawassee, GA for a late lunch/early dinner and meeting before returning. The route up is composed of mostly gently curving mountain roads that I think every age Mustang will handle easily.  The route back will have a couple sections that will be a bit more demanding that our Gen1 Mustangs can handle if driven at a slower pace.  When we get to those sections we will stop and stage the late models and “built” Gen 1s in front.  Any driver that would like to take a more leisurely pace can stage with the second group. Additionally if anyone would rather not drive the twisty roads, they can bypass this section of roads and take a more direct route home.  Both the drive up and back will consist of approximately 2 hours of driving time and on the way up we have planned another 1/2 hour stop for pictures, scenery viewing and a shorter stop planned for ice cream.

Now for the details:

Cruise – For those joining us for the cruise we will meet at the Oakwood QuikTrip (northeast corner of the I-985 and GA-53 interchange) before 12:30 and leave on the drive at 12:30 sharp.  Please make sure you have a full tank of gas and an empty bladder as there will be no restroom breaks early in the drive except for individuals pulling off at gas stations, then catching up with the group.  Later in the drive the only restroom opportunities will be a couple of state parks that we pass.  Everyone will be given printed driving directions before we leave, so in the event we get separated you can still follow the route.

Meeting – Our meeting will be at Daniel’s Steak House; 273 Big Sky Drive; Hiawassee, GA 30546 at 3:00.  Daniel’s Steak House offers ordering off a menu or a reasonably priced buffet including salad and dessert.  Those that want to attend the meeting, but not the club cruise to the meeting can meet us at the restaurant at 3:00.

Please include the number of people in your group as our meeting will be in a separate room at the restaurant for which we will need to provide them an accurate headcount.  Email me at:  jrhayslip@yahoo.com if you will be joining us for both the cruise and club meeting, or if you will be joining us at Daniel’s Steak House just for the club meeting.

Please RSVP by Sunday July 17th.

Looking forward to it,

Rick Hayslip

Upcoming Events

From Rick Hayslip:

Here are some upcoming events to put on your calendar, for a complete list of events see the calendar on our newly updated website.
Several Club Members are planning on attending the Flag City Mustang Club’s show at the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 2nd (rain date April 3rd).  Here is a link to the show flyer and registration form: Cherry Blossom Car Show Registration Form
If you would like to caravan down to Macon, we will be meeting at the McDonalds at the Pleasant Hill Road and I-85 interchange at around 8:15 and will be leaving at 8:30 sharp.  We’d love to have other members join us, just let me know if you are planning on joining us, so we know who to expect at the McDonalds.
Set aside Sunday April 24th for our next club meeting, this will also be our initial planning session for this fall’s Maggie Valley show.  We are still working on the location, but are thinking about 2:00, and will communicate the time and location as soon as plans are finalized.
Also, set aside Saturday June 4th.  Your Club is planning to attend Hot Rod night at the Tiger Drive In.  We will be arranging a caravan up to the drive in, and also are working on hotel arrangements for those that want to stay up in that area Saturday night.  More details will be communicated, I just wanted to get the date out there for planning.

NEGMC February Club Meeting – Provino’s Italian Restaurant; Buford, GA

See you there

NEGMC Caravan to Jaemor Farms

There have been a couple of requests to meet at the Oakwood QuikTrip and cruise up to Jaemor Farms together. This sounds like a great idea, so if you want to join us we’ll meet at the QuickTrip located on the northeast corner of the I-985 and GA53 interchange at 3-3:15 and leave for Jaemor Farms at 3:30.  If we have a big crowd meeting at the QT, the bank next door will be closed by then so let’s meet or at least overflow into their parking lot.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and I do mean everyone as we have about 70 people who have RSVP’d.

See you this Saturday, January 23.

NEGMC After Christmas Party and Meeting

Our annual club after Christmas party is scheduled for Saturday January 23rd from 4-8 at the party barn at Jaemor Farms.  Jaemor Farms is located at 5340 Cornelia Hwy, Alto, GA 30510, Cornelia Hwy is probably better known as GA365 or the continuation of I985 after it ends just north of Gainesville, and Jaemor Farms is just after mile marker 35 if you are coming from the south.

The club will provide meat, fixings, water, and all the paper goods.  Members are asked to bring their favorite side or dessert, and whatever you want to drink if not water.  The facility has electric if you need to plug in a crockpot or something like that.
We will hold our January meeting after we eat and then hold our white elephant gift exchange.  If you want to participate in the white elephant, bring an unmarked, wrapped gift (value around $15 or less), can be a nice or gag item, your choice.  If you are bringing children and want them to participate, we will do a separate white elephant gift exchange for the kids, so bring a gift for each child that will be participating.
We will need a head count to properly plan the amount of food to purchase, so if you will be attending, please rsvp to me at jrhayslip@yahoo.com or reply back to this email by Sunday January 10th, and give me the number of people that will be in your party.  If you have any questions about this event, email me or call at 678-371-5799.  This is an informal event, if it’s cold dress warmly, the barn is heated and will have a fire burning, but it is a barn and can be a bit chilly.
Hope to see many of you there,
Rick
