52nd Annual Fall Regional Shelby, Mustang, and Ford Meet

The Northeast Georgia Mustang Club held its 52nd Annual Fall Regional Shelby, Mustang, and Ford Show at the beautiful Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, GA on Lake Chatuge on Sept 19 – 20, 2025.

The events started on Friday with a NE Georgia Mustang Club Members-only cruise through the mountains, followed by a Meet and Greet catered BBQ Lunch for show attendees who wanted to start the fun a day before the actual show.  The show, itself, was held from 8am – 3pm on Saturday, and cars started lining up much earlier than that to claim their favorite parking spots at this very unique venue.  The weather cooperated… almost, with a beautiful day until 10 minutes before our award ceremony, when a brief but heavy downpour had people scrambling to their cars.

The Club had returned to a judged event this year utilizing a modified version of the MCA Abbreviated Judging guidelines. We had 154 registered vehicles, most of whom wished to have their cars judged.   We had some very positive feedback from attendees who appreciated having their car judged, rather than just being awarded based on a popular vote.

Our awards consisted of one overall Best of Show Winner and a Great Eight in each of 6 classes.  The competition was fierce, and there were so many beautiful cars.  Even as they were coming in through the registration line, our staff knew this was going to be one spectacular show of some of the finest Mustangs, Shelby’s and Fords in the area.  The very deserving recipients of the awards are as follows:

Best of Show:  Douglas Delorme with his 1976 Mustang Ghia Western.  Doug’s car has an amazing history as one half of a prototype pair that Ford designed; intending to produce one thousand units.  The pair consists of a Mustang II Ghia Western and its F-150 counterpart.  This very rare and unique pair never ended up going into production, as Ford pulled the plug on this special Western edition before production.  Mr. Delorme was part of the Engineering Team at Ford back then and somehow convinced the manufacturer to let him purchase the prototypes.  He has cherished this very rare pair as part of his own collection for the past 49 years!
